Design considerations
- With multiple LDARs potentially required for full 360-degree sensing, design is spatially limited
- LiDAR are often mounted on exterior part of vehicles therefore need to sustain vibrations and large temperature variations from exposure to the exterior ambient
- Use rugged and robust packages like Nexperias LFPAK and CFP packages which further supports space saving, thermal efficiency and high reliability levels
- LiDARs requires high frequency switching and high current capability for the laser actuator
- System requires superior resolution, faster response times and greater accuracy for mapping
- Fast communication is required to the ADAS Control Units, with adequate ESD protection
- Small signal discrete and logic devices can add additional safety features and functions that are independent of the main control unit
