Sustainable Power Unit
The Sustainable Power Unit makes use of natural resources as a mean to power electronics in an eco-responsible manner. With energy harvesting at its core -powered by Nexperia’s NEH2000BY Power Management IC-, the unit uses ambient energy (light) to power a bio-based supercapacitor which in turn allows a humidity and temperature sensor to transmit data via Bluetooth. The board is entirely recyclable, allowing to further reduce e-waste.
Key features and benefits
• Epishine organic solar cells to harvest low energy ambient light
• Ligna's S-Power 2S sustainable supercapacitor made of bio-organic materials, without any toxic chemicals, PFAS or metals such as lithium
• Jiva's Soluboard PCB, produced using the world's first fully recyclable printed circuit board substrate with more than a 60% lower carbon footprint than market incumbents
• This version of the Sustainable Power Unit includes a temperature and a humidity sensor as well as Bluetooth connectivity to transmit the sensor data to, for example, a mobile device or fixed communication node.
Target applications
• IoT sensor devices for Proptech applications, asset tracking or food safety control
