Fluid pump (12 V)

To save weight and make vehicles more efficient, car manufacturers have switched to small brushless DC motor drive for a whole range of auxiliary systems, such as water and coolant pumps. This has also enabled systems such as the window washer nozzles to be integrated into the wiper blade, saving valuable space under the hood. Smaller low power applications such as water pumps, tend to use the standard 12 V power line.

Design considerations

  • Depending on how optimized  cooling systems or if systems are operating with lower power, then MOSFETs with a higher RDSon rating (up to 10 m) can be used

The Power MOSFET Application Handbook

Drawing on over 20 years’ of experience, the Power MOSFET Application Handbook brings together a comprehensive set of learning and reference materials relating to the use of power MOSFETs in real world systems.
