Body Control Unit (BCU)

Body Control Units (BCUs) are central controllers within a function-based distributed vehicle architecture. They communicate with sensors, other ECUs and control modules (such as door, mirror, seat, and roof modules) to coordinate and manage systems across the vehicle body. BCUs also serve as communication hubs, establishing both wired and wireless connections. As a result, they require robust signal-line protection and strong signal integrity. In addition, BCUs act as power control units, managing the operation of multiple actuators and routing power where needed in the correct direction and format.
