Electric forklift truck

In virtually every warehouse, goods depot and logistics center you are likely to find various forklifts, pallet stackers and other logistics transportation equipment. In recent years there has been a shift away from internal combustion forklifts towards battery powered vehicles to ensure good air quality indoors especially in buildings with poor ventilation or when moving goods from stores to the shop floor in large supermarkets. From managing 24 / 36 / 48 V multi-cell battery packs to driving multiple motors for enhanced manoeuvrability, electrification is also an option to replace hydraulics reducing the risk of oil leakages and giving operators a clearer view.

Design considerations

  • High anti-stall robustness is required, offered by reliable clip-bonding package technology
  • Improved thermal performance with high power, low loss MOSFETs
  • Reliable and efficient DC:DC conversion through combination of low-voltage MOSFETs in LFPAK and CFP Schottky Diodes
  • Enhanced forward biased safe operating area for superior linear mode operation
  • Protection of sensitive electronics from potential ESD spikes

Balanced current sharing between parallel MOSFETs

In high power Applications, such as Motor Control, one MOSFET may not be enough – hence paralleling MOSFETs becomes a necessary solution

MOSFET and GaN FET Handbook

Drawing on over 20 years’ of experience, the MOSFET and GaN FET Application Handbook: A Power Design Engineer’s Guide brings together a comprehensive set of learning and reference materials relating to the use of MOSFETs and GaN FETs in real world systems.
